Gingerbread Sunday

Spicy sweet gingerbread has long been a special part of the holiday season.  Its many forms – houses, figures, and all kinds of cookies – hold a special appeal for children and adults alike.  On December 3, from 1:30 to 4:00, the Miller-Cory House Museum, 614 Mountain Avenue in Westfield, will present “Gingerbread Sunday,” a program dedicated to this sweet treat.  Children will make a decorative, nonedible gingerbread house and one additional craft to take home and will hear “gingery” stories.  Light refreshments will be served.  Picture book author Laura Sassi will read her book Goodnight Manger; signed copies will be available for sale. In the Frazee Building, members of the Cooking Committee will prepare early American recipes using ginger over the open hearth.  Admission is $5.00 per child; accompanying adults are free.   Advance reservations must be made.  Requests will be accepted via phone (908-232-1776) or email (millercorymuseum@gmail.com) through November 28 and by phone only until noon on December 2.  Please include your phone number in emails.
