On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress resolved that “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson officially established June 14 as Flag Day. Visit the museum on June 2, 2:00 to 4:00, to celebrate the anniversary of the Stars and Stripes. The program includes a short presentation, a fun flag craft for children, and tours of the museum. Visitors may also watch members of the Cooking Committee prepare dishes over the open hearth, using early American utensils, recipes, and techniques. Admission is $4 for ages 13 and older; $3 for ages 3-12 and free age 2 and younger.
